The Work Song...

Howdy! It's been almost a month, but I have very good reasons as to why I haven't posted anything. I've been working. That's it. I wake up, go to work, come home, nap, lounge, go to sleep, repeat. I don't think I have done anything exciting other than that. Hung out with friends here and there, but rarely. We just hang out at their house and watch tv or play games. Woo.

I have been reading. I just finished Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. I bought the one ring to rule them all from Amazon. I watched the crap out of The Hobbit (which I picked up a couple of weeks ago) and also watched The Fellowship of the Rings (the first time in YEARS) after finishing the book. I started The Two Towers and will watch the movie after I finish. I only have 2 more days of work before I get a week off. So...I will be reading a bunch during the days and go out at night with friends.

In July I have these upcoming events: 2 BBQs, 1 pool party, 1 girls night, 1 trip to the shore to watch the local NHL hockey team do some beach competitions. Other than that it's working and wishing I had more to do.

In a few moments I will be hopping over to my other page: Bound by Binding (http://boundbybinding.blogspot.com/) to write my first review of Emma. So make sure to visit that page! As always: read, comment, review, whatever! I'm here to take your criticisms and make my page better- not just for me, but you as well.

So I ask: are there any pages you always read? What do you like about them? What could you tell them to do differently that would improve them? What's your favorite thing about July 4th? What sports do you follow and why?

Stay well, Mellon (friend in Elvish). -K

Amazing Weekend

Hey there! This is going to be a long one, but a very nice one. I have so much to write about. Atlantic City, movie night with my sister, and my friends' wedding. BUT FIRST! I created a new blog for my book reviews: boundbybinding.blogspot.com Check it out because I will be writing about "Emma" by Jane Austen and "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens soon because I finished them! :D Now...onto my weekend:

It started on Thursday. I woke up very early and went to work. I was extremely tired, but we got done quicker than we expected. After our break I didn't really have to work much. I was beginning my new training. I learned that I was going to be the leader of a new team (I only thought I was just to be on that team, not the leader). That was some good news to me! I learned how to prepare a store so that our company could come in and do their job for inventory. It was pretty easy. Then, when there was one section to do, instead of scanning I was told to help pre-count that area so that the man doing it would get done faster. So, it was a very easy day at work! The ride home was the worst.

When I got in the company van I had to sit in between a girl and a boy. I opened my book and proceeded to read. Well, the boy had other plans. He stared over my shoulder and when that didn't work he started to rap in my face. He waved his hands in my face and pulled at my sleeve. I closed my book annoyed. We had an hour and a half (give or take a few) to get home. He proceeded to ask me questions, rap close to my ear, tried to put his headphones in my ear, and then he asked me a REALLY personal question. When he got bored, he started to put stickies in my ear and on my back (with a help from another girl sitting behind me). Now that he had his fun he took a nap. I was so angry that I couldn't and I didn't want to read. WHO THE HELL DOES THAT?! Well, unfortunately I can't stand up for myself. I will. I'm going to work on that. If he ever does that to me again I will tell him that I will report him not only for harassment, but sexual harassment as well. If he continues, I will do it. I'm not playing.

Anyway, I went home and packed. I had a free room in Atlantic City and my boyfriend and I were going down together. We had a nice easy ride down and we got there about seven at night. We checked in and went straight to the boardwalk. There were some really nice shops down there, but mostly there were massage and psychic reading places. We stopped in at the Rainforest Cafe's gift shop and looked around. I had been to AC earlier this month, but there was still no sign of tiger necklaces. They have almost every other animal in a necklace, except a tiger. Joe bought a small plastic red-eyed tree frog. They're his favorite. Afterwards, we continued on the boardwalk.

There was maybe three pizza places and stores with the same tee-shirts. There's not much on that boardwalk. :( Joe and I came across a restaurant called Country Kitchen and with that looking the nicest of all places we went there. The food was excellent and the service matched! Our waiter was so nice and funny. We left him a really good tip because he was the best! Joe and I started back to our hotel to digest. We came across the 3D laser light show.

There was a dog running around and Joe was worried about it the whole time. It had a collar on it, but we didn't know where the owner was or if they were watching the show, too. Other than that the show was interesting. There wasn't much to it, but they had different genres of music from different times. It would have been much better if they had the licenses to the actual songs, but they did what they could.

We stayed in the room for a little bit, drank wine, and watched King of the Hill and American Dad. Then we proceeded to go to the casino. The hotel gave me some money to gamble with after a certain amount of time. By the time I got that we were ready to leave. Joe said he'd gamble one dollar and that was it (he doesn't like gambling at all). I downloaded the free money while he gambled his. I didn't know, but the money that I download stays on that machine. I can only cash out the winnings. So I left early (thinking I cashed out everything), but I realized that I didn't have twenty dollars on my ticket like I should have had. I asked a worker there and when we found the machine my money was on an elderly gentleman was on it gambling...with MY MONEY! The worker asked him politely to move and he did. The worker also cashed out the winnings and gave it to me (because it was rightfully mine).  I had fifteen dollars of the free money left and I had to play them. So I did. Later that elderly gentleman came back and asked if we had seen a ticket on the side because he left it there. I told him I did not and when he left I explained to Joe that he was asking about the ticket the worker gave to me. Joe just laughed, but it was rightfully mine so I was going to keep it. Later during the walk back to the elevators I saw that gentleman walking around looking at different machines. I realized that I had seen him doing the same thing before the incident and put it together that he would just go around looking for credits on machines. I felt sad for him in the end.

Joe and I went home the next day. It was such a nice getaway and I'm glad he came with me (although he doesn't like Atlantic City) and that we both had a nice time. That same night my parents went out (I am now living back with them after some events happened a little bit ago) to a play. My sister came over and we watched Star Trek from 2009. We made popcorn and just had a really nice time! I like watching movies with her. We had our ups and downs through life, but now I enjoy her company. Plus, it was a nice thing to relax and watch a movie after a long week of work and driving to and from Atlantic City.

On Saturday, my friends Chuck and Kathy got married! I don't think I have seen them since my Halloween party (when I was introduced to Kathy). Let me just say they are the happiest, cutest, and sweetest couple I have ever met. Chuck was always a nice guy and he would do anything for his friends. He never said anything negative and when I met Kathy I knew they'd be together forever. She was the same as Chuck in her demeanor. She was very nice, polite, and sweet. I have talked to her via facebook since I met her and I am so happy for the both of them. I don't think anyone needs to wish them happiness in their marriage because it comes naturally to them. All we need to do is wish them enjoyment of the events that unfold in their married life.

Their wedding took place a couple towns over from where I live. There was a waterfall and the reception was in a log cabin looking building. When I saw Chuck to congratulate him, he showed me he was wearing Doctor Who socks. THIS IS WHY WE'RE FRIENDS. I have the best and nerdiest friends EVER! Before the ceremony, though, I found out Matt Smith was leaving the show. Which saddened me and I knew it would sadden Chuck, so I broke the news later to him. Kathy looked absolutely stunning and her dress was beautiful! The ceremony was perfect and very touching. I saw an old co-worker and one of my best friend's brother there and we sat together at the reception along with two other couples.

I must say that the girl that I had met at the table and her husband were so nice! Once we started talking it was like we knew each other for years although I had just met her. Chuck has some pretty awesome friends and I could not have had a better time unless Joe was there (he was working because our invitation got lost in the mail and we didn't know we were invited until a couple weeks ago). Lot of smiles, lots of laughs, and plenty of new memories.

One of the best weekends I have had. And summer is just starting. I can't wait to see what it has in store for me.

So let me ask you, now: Which shore do you like to go to and what's your favorite thing to do there? What does your family like to do together? What do you see your wedding like?

Comment, review, feedback. Please. -K.

This is my dream wedding.

A Day With The Bestie

Today was a very good day. I didn't think I would post another entry today, but it was too nice not to. I had planned a nice day with my best friend Jen, and although we couldn't do everything, it was a very successful day.

First, we headed to a community college because Jen was thinking about going to school again. Since she had never been, we decided we'd take a trip to get all the information we could. I knew the campus because back in early high school I spent two years of my summer life there doing Summerstage/Mainstage (a theatre program kids-young adults). I remember being in Mary Poppins, but I can't remember the other children's show I was in for Summerstage. Then at night (since I was old enough to do Mainstage) I did Footloose and Little Shop of Horrors. Great shows! :) I loved being in them and I loved the people I met there. I just didn't know how to drive there since the last time I was there I wasn't old enough to drive.

We got lost on the way there (as I do for everywhere I go), but it was an adventure! We got there and it was another adventure since the building for the registration had so many hallways and doors. Jen said it seemed like it could be a setting for the Slenderman game. So we looked for papers on our way out.

We went back to her house for a little bit and ate lunch before we went to the movies. We didn't have enough time to go wine tasting and honestly I didn't have enough gas in my car to do that anyway. In that time she got me hooked on Kitchen Nightmares (with chef Gordon Ramsey) just by showing me one episode. Any fan of that show will know which one: Amy's Baking Company. Hooooooolyyyyyy shhhhhhhoes! That lady is crazy! After that we spent time researching the drama that happened after the show and the reviewer (or "hater") that started the "problem." It was much entertaining and I will be showing my mom that episode on Friday.

We started on our way to the movies to see Star Trek Into Darkness. AMAZING MOVIE. Noel Clark made an appearance that I was unaware of until yesterday. He played Rose's boyfriend Mickey in Doctor Who. And of course! The talented Benedict Cumberbatch was Khan. Now, for those of you who don't know, Mr. Cumberbatch is Sherlock in BBC's Sherlock. If you haven't seen it stop reading this blog instantly and watch it on Netflix! His voice will draw you in. I am planning on seeing it a second time. I won't write about the content of the movie just because I don't want to give anything away. It is a must see movie!

Now, I have to be at work at 3:45am. So it is time for me to say goodnight. Before I go, though, a few questions to reflect on: What is the movie you want to see this summer? What do you and your friends like to do on your days off? What TV show is your guilty pleasure and why?

Live long and prosper. -K
The last one gets me everytime.

Jumping Back In!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! WOW! I have neglected this. I'm so sorry! I got a new job and between that, school, joining a gym, and many other things I have been too busy to update! Now it's summer and I really want to write again. Please forgive me for being so sporadic!

Hm...Let's see. Well, I completed my first semester at my university. I ended up with a 3.65 gpa. Not bad, right? I am currently being looked at for a promotion at my current job (I started working here in January). My relationship hit a bump in the road, but we backed up and drove around. Right now, I'm going to say life is really good. Just wish I had more money, but then again, who doesn't?

One of my professors seemed to enjoy my writing and told me to keep up with it. I guess that is what I'll do seeing as I'm majoring in Writing Arts. It's what I have to do! I am also keeping up on reading. I just finished "Emma" by Jane Austen and am almost done "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. I hope to have finished it by the end of May. I am right on track!

I got a puppy during Spring Break! He's half Chocolate Lab and half Australian Cattle Dog. He's still a puppy and pretty big, so he's going to be MASSIVE! <3 We named him Ganon (yes, after the Legend of Zelda Ganon). He's so adorable and very friendly. Too friendly that sometimes he scratches when he doesn't mean it because he wants to play and be loved.

Doctor Who just ended so I don't have anything to really sit down and watch on Saturday nights anymore. Season 3 of Game of Thrones is almost over and I haven't caught up yet. I don't know what to do with watching TV Series, so I downloaded 7 books onto my Kindle to read when I'm done my summer reading list. So far I have on that list (after Dickens): Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Game of Thrones series, Percy Jackson series, one Stephen King book (suggestions are open), Fight Club, and Beautiful Creatures series. Not sure if I will get them all done, but I don't really do much during the summer anyway. Last summer I read the whole Harry Potter series along with 4 other books. And, like I said, all my TV shows are pretty much over until October/November. I would, however, like to do a couple of adventurous things during the summer: Go to Six Flags (I miss that place!), go to the Renaissance Faire (Time Traveler's weekend, baby!), and take a day trip to Baltimore when Otakon is happening (so I can just enjoy the cosplays without buying an overpriced ticket for a weekend I may or may not overall enjoy).

I will keep this short and sweet. What is your summer to do list? What about your summer reading list? Do you have a blog I could follow so I can see what books to put on my "To Read List?" And lastly, would you read a book review blog if I created one?

Stay classy, internet.
-K.

Because there's a Doctor Who quote for everything.

Looking Forward in 2013!

Hi all! Hope your New Year's was amazing! Mine was pretty good. I ended 2012 quite interesting. My 2013 is looking up and I hope it continues! So here we go!

My last day of 2012: Joe and I decided that since we were running around all week and were always in the company of friends, that we just stay home and celebrate by ourselves. It's nice to spend some time with him and I agreed completely. I was going to drive to a friend's house or to my sister's but Joe didn't  like the fact that I would be on the road while there were drunk drivers out there. However, I got a text from Jen that her plans were cancelled and asked if I could take her home from work. I did because it was going to happen at 9pm when people were either still getting ready or just arriving at their destinations.

Well! I get to her job and she tells me that the girl in the front of the store who she and Joe said looked like Skeletor had just came from across the parking lot singing her heart out. When she arrived she just stared at Jen, then made her way inside and behind Jen. Jen moved outside, but before she did, she saw the girl pull out a credit card and a vial. She put a line on it and that's all Jen saw. We pulled up and Jen told us this and asked what to do. We told her she should someone and she ran inside. Joe and I witnessed the girl duck down, then back up, throw what looked to be pink tissue paper around, and then duck down again. When Jen came back out to the car, she said the girl was curled up against the wall.

Yup. That's how 2012 concluded for me. With watching some girl do drugs in public. Now! I made a New Year's resolution I plan to keep. At first it was read 2 books a month and be more positive. But I changed it last minute. I now hope to write at least twice a week and be more positive. So far it is working very well. Rough start of 2013, but it's getting better.

My college financial situation is looking better after I consulted a financial aid lady at the university. Honestly, just going back to college is a positive step for me. I'm hoping to better myself and career and I am looking forward to it. Joe asked me today though if he'd ever get to see me. We live together, but with work, school, and his schedule it'll be a bit harder for us to have some time to ourselves, but I'm sure all will work out. I am really hopeful and positive. :)

So I ask you, my friends, what is your New Year's resolution? Why did you pick that? How do you plan to keep up with it? Also, what kind of books do you like to read and what books do you tend to stay away from?

I really want to know because I am hoping to put something out myself and would hope you would buy it if it ever comes out. Also, because I am always interested in hearing opinions -K.

This was me New Year's Day. Except a female. Minus the desk. Add a retail store background.
