My last day of 2012: Joe and I decided that since we were running around all week and were always in the company of friends, that we just stay home and celebrate by ourselves. It's nice to spend some time with him and I agreed completely. I was going to drive to a friend's house or to my sister's but Joe didn't like the fact that I would be on the road while there were drunk drivers out there. However, I got a text from Jen that her plans were cancelled and asked if I could take her home from work. I did because it was going to happen at 9pm when people were either still getting ready or just arriving at their destinations.
Well! I get to her job and she tells me that the girl in the front of the store who she and Joe said looked like Skeletor had just came from across the parking lot singing her heart out. When she arrived she just stared at Jen, then made her way inside and behind Jen. Jen moved outside, but before she did, she saw the girl pull out a credit card and a vial. She put a line on it and that's all Jen saw. We pulled up and Jen told us this and asked what to do. We told her she should someone and she ran inside. Joe and I witnessed the girl duck down, then back up, throw what looked to be pink tissue paper around, and then duck down again. When Jen came back out to the car, she said the girl was curled up against the wall.
Yup. That's how 2012 concluded for me. With watching some girl do drugs in public. Now! I made a New Year's resolution I plan to keep. At first it was read 2 books a month and be more positive. But I changed it last minute. I now hope to write at least twice a week and be more positive. So far it is working very well. Rough start of 2013, but it's getting better.
My college financial situation is looking better after I consulted a financial aid lady at the university. Honestly, just going back to college is a positive step for me. I'm hoping to better myself and career and I am looking forward to it. Joe asked me today though if he'd ever get to see me. We live together, but with work, school, and his schedule it'll be a bit harder for us to have some time to ourselves, but I'm sure all will work out. I am really hopeful and positive. :)
So I ask you, my friends, what is your New Year's resolution? Why did you pick that? How do you plan to keep up with it? Also, what kind of books do you like to read and what books do you tend to stay away from?
I really want to know because I am hoping to put something out myself and would hope you would buy it if it ever comes out. Also, because I am always interested in hearing opinions -K.
This was me New Year's Day. Except a female. Minus the desk. Add a retail store background.
Resolutions: none.
ReplyDeleteBooks: Fantasy, some sci-fi.
Books to avoid: the other ones
Glad things are looking on the up side. I -should- take your discarded resolution of reading more, but we'll see how it goes. Also of getting some habit of taking walks. Been working on that for 2 months with zero success so far. Maybe later today I'll start?

I don't make resolutions, but I will answer the second part of that. I love all fiction, as you know, but I love suspense, horror, scifi, mysteries and I love anything supernatural. I try to stay away from books that go nowhere and anything written by Nicholas Sparks. And I read about three pages of 50 Shades of Grey then I was like, "Done!"
ReplyDeleteThings that are not written well really get on my nerves. I just want to take a red pen to them.

LW-It's too late to take a walk around where you live. You should start tomorrow. Wake up early (before work) and get to it! :)
ReplyDeleteLaura-Hooray for red pen books! They make other books look good. Haha. :) I read the demo that Jen had on her kindle of 50 Shades. Ugh! The Scent of Sake and Skeleton Women were definitely red pens of my year!
